Updated: Oct 23, 2022

In partnership with the Borongan City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) and Barangay Officials of Can-Abong, Eastern Samar National Comprehensive High School (ESNCHS) lent green hands in the Tree-Planting Activity and Clean-up Drive at the riverside of Cadit-an yesterday, October 21.

Serving as a learning competency for the subject: Introduction to Philosophy of the Grade 12 academic tracks: Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS), Accountancy and Business Management (ABM), and General Academics (GA), the project was firsthand initiated by the subject advisers: Ricardo M. Arlos; Teacher III and ABM Faculty Head, Ched P. Bula; Teacher II, and Mario T. Adorna; Teacher II.

The students were able to collect more than 20 sacks of wastes, and plant an estimation of 600 to-grow trees – that will be under the weekly maintenance of CENRO, with the supervision of the Barangay Officials.

The activity also adheres to the DRRMO and Borongan City Mayor: Jose Ivan Dayan Agda's approval as he calls for the riverside to be a forested area, while, soon formally declaring it as Cadit-an Tree Park that will provide protection to the neighborhoods within and near the barangay.

ESNCHS is the first academic organization to establish a partnership with CENRO in their tree-planting and solid waste management projects which are done thrice every month in their regulated quarter timelines.

In campaigning for greener efforts to progress the wellness of the city's environment, Vicky May Gavilan, CENRO EMS II, convenes more partnerships with academic organizations or any alliance that are eco-driven, for more projects that will also, then, look after the refreshments of the city's water bodies.
