ESNCHS combats drug use thru Barkada Kontra Droga webinar

BORONGAN CITY, Eastern Samar -- In order to raise awareness about the effects of dangerous drugs and the implementation of the Barkada Kontra Droga (BKD) organization, Eastern Samar National Comprehensive High School (ESNCHS) conducts an online orientation on February 23, 2022.

Barkada Kontra Droga is a preventative education and information program that helps counter the disastrous effects of drug abuse. The orientation aims to educate the students of ESNCHS about the dangers of illegal drugs and how BKD will serve as a platform to spread awareness regarding this issue.

With the BKD Public Information Officer, Gil Dulfo, as the master of ceremonies, the webinar started with a prayer and the singing of the National Anthem, which was subsequently followed by the Assistant Principal, Dean Hermano's opening remarks.

The program then proceeded with the school and DepEd Nurse, Harold Labro discussing the Basics of Illegal Drugs.

The implementation of Barkada Kontra Droga was thereafter highlighted by the Nurse-in-Charge of Borongan City Division, Maria Theresa Amidar.

Following the discussion, the ESNCHS Guidance Counselor, Fe Geneberth Sacmar, then addressed the repercussions of illegal drugs to adolescents.

In addition, a PNP Representative, PSSG Ma. Felisa E. Dayao, reviewed the drug situation in Borongan City Division.

Furthermore, a quiz bee was held to evaluate the participants' understanding of the topics covered throughout the webinar.

Finally, as the Barkada Kontra Droga President, Ron Christian Delmonte concluded the orientation by emphasizing the detrimental effects of illegal drugs.

“We have witnessed how drug abuse affects our lives and of the people around us. We also learned how hard its consequences are. It truly has a life-changing effect, but not the good kind.”

Delmonte went on by discouraging everyone from dangerous drug use.

“And so I offer my 4Ds to all my fellow students, ‘Don’t think, Don’t try, Don’t Die. Death becomes you.'”
