ESNCHS Commences Week One of Utter SHS Face-to-Face Classes

Updated: Sep 18, 2022

BORONGAN CITY, Eastern Samar -- Eastern Samar National Comprehensive High School (ESNCHS), the province's sole mega school, is the last secondary school in the Borongan City Division to re-open face-to-face classes for all Senior High School (SHS) since the World Health Organization (WHO) declared a pandemic in March 2020.

Partial attendees of the face-to-face classes for the totality of the ESNCHS Senior High School coincide their first week, today, May 23.

Despite the Officer-in-Charge and Assistant School Principal, Dean Ernest Paul Hermano, aiming for a stark attendance, only 564 of the 1,776 Senior High School enrollees were accommodated in the first shift of classes for the limited face-to-face implementation.

To kick start the day’s events, an orientation was orchestrated featuring guest speakers such as OIC and Assistant School Principal, Dean Ernest Paul Hermano; School Nurse, Harold Labro; and DRRM Coordinator, Eugenio Malinao III, which then progressed to the immediate execution of a simulation, unlike previous on-site classes.

After noting the COVID-19 preventative measures students must take during classes, Harold Labro, the School Nurse, also highlighted the psychosocial support services available for students that are to be conducted by the teachers on campus.

Through the orientation, students assimilate the minimum health standards and traffic management guidelines they must follow while attending in-person classes.

Similar minimum health and safety protocols performed by previous attendees such as frequent handwashing and sanitation, observing physical distancing, and wearing of face masks, to name a few, are also enforced to ensure school safety.

Moreover, in partaking in face-to-face classes, students are expected to bring their ID and school-generated QR codes, alcohol spray or sanitizer, tissue, handkerchief, paypay or mini fans, and basic writing necessities.

As no canteens on campus are open for service and leaving the classroom is generally and strictly prohibited, the school also encourages students to bring their own snacks, lunch, and water to class.

It is hoped that these pilot, non-mandatory, and limited face-to-face classes will better prepare ESNCHS for a much more efficient and progressive administration of on-campus courses in the school year 2022-2023.
